It’s hard to believe that 20 years ago, Oscar lost his battle with cancer. His body gave up, but the light of his soul continues to be with us every single day. His smile lives in every child that we have been able to touch through The Oscar Litwak Foundation.
In the last 20 years, we have been able to work with 95 different hospitals across the US to bring the joy of play to kids who are hospitalized, helping them and their families. We have donated over 180 mobile playrooms, which we continue to restock, over 8,000 distraction bags and 100’s of distraction boxes that are used during medical procedures to entertain, reduce pain and anxiety for kids under medical care.
When donations were halted during COVID, we had to pivot and started our virtual project library, where kids can now log in from the hospitals to get directions and ideas for different art projects, with materials donated by the Foundation. We have engaged 100s of volunteers to help us develop the videos, assemble the supplies, and deliver them to the hospitals. Additionally, we have donated over 1,000 “Holiday in a Box” kits so kids can experience the joy of a Holiday while being Hospitalized.
And we did not forget the hard-working professionals that take care of the kids, during the last few years we fed over 3,000 medical workers while supporting local restaurants.
We still have many hospitals on our waitlist and get requests daily, we can only keep doing this because of you and your generous support.
