Hi! My name is Jude and I am raising money to sponsor an Oscar Litwak Foundation mobile playroom for my Bar Mitzvah Project.
Hi Family and Friends,
For my upcoming Bar Mitzvah I chose to collect new Lego sets and raise funds for the Oscar Litwak Foundation for my mitzvah project. This is a wonderful organization that donates distraction bags, mobile playrooms, toys, books, crafts and games for hospitalized children. As some of you might know, I’ve been an avid Lego fan, collecting since I was age three! Because of this, I knew that the Oscar Litwak Foundation was a great fit for my mitzvah project where I can be part of something special to benefit children and bring them the same joy I get from Lego sets.
The Litwak Family lost their dear son, Oscar to cancer of the kidneys. Oscar would spend weeks, or even months at a time in the hospital. Whenever Oscar could, he would visit the playroom in the hospital and enjoyed playing there, which brought him so much comfort and happiness. Oscar, fighting an uphill battle against cancer, had his fourth birthday in his hospital bed. Then just one month after his birthday, he sadly passed away.
In honor of Oscar the Litwak Family created this amazing foundation to give hospitalized kids what Oscar loved- toys. The foundation donates mobile playrooms and restocks them (carts stocked with arts & crafts, toys, and games). These get wheeled around for children that can’t leave their beds, so these are extra special for them. The foundation also collects funds for bags filled with toys and crafts that are given to kids when they first enter the hospital, to make them feel at home.
I will be hosting some toy drives for people to donate new Lego sets. These will be delivered locally to Tarzana hospital and I will help pack and ship the balance of the sets that will go to Cedars-Sinai hospital. You can also help by donating any monetary amount that will also be donated to these hospitals for toy bags & mobile playrooms. Please join me in helping so we can spread joy and happiness to these children! Thank you so much for your support in honor of my Bar Mitzvah.
With thanks and appreciation,
Jude Kerman
